Remembering Grandpa

A customer brought me her grandfather's bar mitzvah tallit which she wanted to incorporate into a new one for her adult bat mitzvah.  Grandpa had passed away when she was a baby and this would be her way of keeping his memory close.  The old and worn sections of the tallit were cut away and china silk in a matching color was added to make it the lining of her new tallit.  Body fabric is an open weave raw silk and the old tallit can be seen through the front.  Corners were embroidered with large Stars of David.  The atarah has "l'dor v'dor" (from generation to generation" in the center back and alongside the names of grandparents, parents and other family members.
