Here is a wonderful video about a tallit making workshop at a synagogue in Bethesda, MD.  I have done embroidery for many of the students over the past three years.

Gorgeous tallit woven on a loom for a young man's wedding.  Atarah (made by me) has the traditional blessing stitched in one line with black thread on antique white silk.

If you are interested in a custom woven tallit, here's the weaver's website:  http://www.sarahsaulson.com/index.html

Grandma made the spectacular tallit which mimics the stained glass panels in the synagogue.  Kol ha'kavod on a magnificent job!

A beautiful tartan plaid tallit (which also served as the couple's wedding chuppah) was enhanced with an atarah of green silk and lacy hamsa designs at each end.

My customer made this lovely tallit and sent it to me for the atarah and corners stitched on silks that coordinated
with the ribbons in the tallit.

Tallit made by a customer.  White wool base with stripes and Japanese motif print.  I stitched the atarah on extra blue cotton fabric and banded it with the print.  Embroidered Lions of Judah are on each end.

David in his colorful silk geometric tallit.

Ben with his custom made 60's tie dyed tallit!

I embroidered the locomotives & trees and the atarah with the full tzitzit blessing for this beautiful tallit.  A very talented bar mitzvah boy's mom did the fabulous silk painting of the torah on the back.

Justin proudly shows off his black & orange tallit made by grandma.  I embroidered the Lions of Judah and the atarah on black silk which were all banded in orange silk.

A magnificent geometric quilted tallit made with velvet.  The atarah with the full blessing was stitched on dark brown velvet.

Tallit made by my customer; atarah has traditional blessing stitched in black with a red outline around the letters.  The Mickey Mouse heads for the corners came from licensed Disney fabric.  I digitized an appliqué stitch to attach them to the corner fabric and make an outline.

Stunning ivory silk tallit with a dove appliqué (made by my customer.)  I stitched atarah in off-white thread on white silk.  Prayer reads "Peace in Jerusalem and all the world."
