Wool Shawl from Tibet |
A customer purchased this wool shawl on
a trip to Tibet and sent it to me to make into a
tallit. Because the fiber dyes used by the
weaver were so unusual, it was difficult to find
silk for the corners and atarah that would
coordinate well. My search finally turned up a
nice shade of sand brown. A checkered border,
which mimics the design in the weaving, was used for
the corners and a deep red thread was selected for
the writing on the atarah. |
