All of the samples below were made for other customers and can give you some ideas.  I may be able to duplicate the set provided I have the silk available.  There are a few items on the "buy it now" page; more will be added in the near future.

Eishet Chayil ... First line of "A Woman of Valor."  Embroidered in gold thread on black sheer silk organza with gold thread.  The names of the four matriarchs stitched on the corners with a gold bow.  Typeface: Rachel (outline)

Atarah with tzitzit blessing stitched in blue on blue.  Typeface: KEREN   Lacy hamsa design stitched in silver on royal blue dupioni silk with a silver satin border. *


The "Eitz Chayim" stitched in bright red on gold silk with a leaf at each end.  A matching set of corners has the same red leaf and outlined in a satin stitch.


The priestly blessing stitched in cobalt blue thread on gold silk.  The set is a reverse: atarah on gold with blue banding; corners are gold thread on blue silk with gold banding.   Typeface: VENICE

Tzitzit blessing in pink thread on yellow silk.  Color scheme reversed with pink and yellow butterflies on pink silk.


Same blessing as above, stitched in purple thread on a lilac-blue silk.  Corners have an outline star.  Typeface: VENICE


A very popular blessing -- again done as above, but with gold stitching on ocean blue silk.  The corners have eyelet hole embroidered and punched out for the tzitzit.  The matching tallit bag is on the

The second part of the tzitzit blessing stitched in silver thread on the customer's blue wool.  A 7-branch menorah is at each end.

For an Oregon State fan, set below was stitched in orange thread on black silk and banded with orange silk.  Set of 8 corners for both sides of the tallit.*


This is one of the prettiest typefaces, but not chosen very often.  The full tzitzit blessing is stitched in a dark mint rayon thread on the customer's off-white silk.  The ends have a sheer silk overlay with doves facing one another.  Back neckline is slightly tapered with wider front points.  A matching set of corners with mint green stars complements the atarah.  Typeface: MEIR


Selection from the bat mitzvah girl's haftorah stitched in gold thread on spring green dupioni silk.  Simple gold stars at each end with a matching set of corners.  Typeface: VENICE

 

The v'ahavta (and you shall love the Lord Your God ...) stitched in purple thread (with a silver dove at each end) on customer's turquoise Pendleton wool.  Corners have art, music and Judaica designs.  All corners and the neckband are trimmed in aqua silk.

The Oseh Shalom stitched in gold thread on lavender silk.  Matching corners with bold stars of David.  Typeface: VENICE


This set was commissioned by a young man for the tallit being made for his wedding.  He and his fiancée chose four strong Judaic symbols for the corners and a pair of hamsas at each end of the atarah.  Prayer:  Hinei matov ... "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity."  Typeface: ADA (no longer available)

Corner sets for twin boys: top set has a mixture of Jewish symbols, a flame (for his boy scout achievements) and a phrase with his name inside.  All were stitched on vibrant dupioni silks.

The bottom set has a tree of life stitched in gold thread on black silk.  Around three of the trees are the names of parents, grandparents and silblings.

 

"Peace in Jerusalem and all the world"  Stitched in light oatmeal thread on black dupioni silk.  Set of corners with a very traditional lion of Judah.

The same set for another customer.  Stitched in gold on burgundy silk. *


The full tzitzit blessing stitched in eggplant thread on a brown-gold silk/rayon blend.  The atarah has a binding made from other fabrics in the tallit.  The corners, stitched on the same fabric, have a modern star in shades of eggplant, olive and copper with a purple outline. Typeface: STAM

 

 

Psalm 36:8 in turquoise thread (Typeface KSAV YAD) on a light beige silk.  Pair of white doves on turquoise silk at the ends.  Corners stitched on white dupioni silk (Four seasons of the year).  Wording on corners: mercy, delight, lovingkindness and faith.  An extra dove was stitched for the woven tallit bag and a turquoise silk kippah with the branch and flower design all around.

 

The full tzitzit blessing in silver metallic thread on turquoise silk.  Matching corners have a scrollwork design that was custom digitized.  Typeface: MEIR


The full tzitzit blessing in gold thread on emerald green silk.  Simple plain corners with just a hole embroidered and punched out for the tzitzit.  Typeface: ASHKENAZ



And the same set stitched in white thread on lavender silk.  Corners have a satin border around the outside.  Typeface: ASHKENAZ


M-I-C-K-E-Y ...... You just have to have a sense of humor (or be a diehard Disney lover) to make a tallit with a Mickey Mouse theme.  The atarah here has the full tzitzit blessing stitched in black with each letter outlined in red.  Typeface: ASHKENAZ  The corners are Mickey Mouse heads that were cut from other fabric and appliquéd onto white dupioni silk.  A set of four white silk squares is for the reverse side.

Psalm 120:2 "My help will come from the Lord, Maker of heaven and earth."  Stitched in gold thread on ivory silk.  Matching corners have simple outline and hole for tzitzit.  Typeface: ADA

The full blessing for putting on a tallit stitched in dark red on light pink silk.  A small rosebud is at either end and the corners have a lovely red rose.

 

A Gabrieli silk tallit purchased in Israel was customized by stitching the traditional tzitzit blessing in gold thread onto the existing atarah.  Bar mitzvah boy's name also embroidered onto the flap of the matching bag.  Typeface: VENICE


Atarah and corner set for a loom woven tallit.  All four colors used in the weaving were matched in thread (lilac, dark raspberry, pink and white) and stitched onto light linen fabric.  Prayer is the second half of the tzitzit blessing and corners have names of the matriarchs.  Corners and atarah ends have an open, lacy frame of pink and white thread.  Typeface ASHKENAZ

A customer sent me a drawing of the flower she is using on her daughter's bat mitzvah invitation.  Could it be converted to an embroidery design?  See the results:

Mom made the beautiful bat mitzvah tallit below and sent it to me for corners, an atarah and matching kippah.  I found silk to match the colors in the ribbons used for the stripes and stitched a different design for each corner.  The atarah is done is a light aqua silk with the dark purple banding and torahs stitched in gold at either end.  Typeface:

This will be an awesome tallit, indeed.  Dad is making it for his son who is about to celebrate his bar mitzvah.  Two complete sets of corners were made; one set has the modern star design in three shades of blues.  The thread colors were varied as well as the four shades of blue wool fabric.  The other set consists of four designs from his Torah portion, Noah:  water, fire, peace dove and tree of life.  The atarah has the full tzitzit blessing with the modern star at each end.

Custom made atarah from fabric provided by the client.  Background is silver dupioni silk  banded with a tie-dyed cotton.  Corners are the same tie-dye fabric banded with teal dupioni silk and a silver metallic trim inset.  Typeface: GEFEN


The full tzitzit blessing done in Hebrew script on silver silk.  Thread is a bright pink and gentle scrolls are at each end.  A set of matching corners has outlines in light silver and pink threads.  Typeface: KSAV YAD

Commissioned order for a group of eight men and women celebrating their adult b'nai mitzvot.  Each person will be receiving a hand knitted or crocheted tallit from silk yarns and the silk colors below were selected to match.

The customer did extensive hand embroidery on this atarah, and this is the final product:


An atarah, tallit bag and kippot made for a customer who weaved her beautiful tallit on a loom.  The colors go from black to white in a graduated hue, so a black silk atarah with silver thread was her choice.  Typeface: VENICE.  Verse is Job 37:14 "S
tand still and consider the wondrous works of God."  Tallit bag has the stripes on front in the darker shades (lighter colors on back side) so we got a kippah from each end of the spectrum.


Joshua 24:15 - "and for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."  Two graceful lions stand at each end of the atarah.  They face each other when the tallit is on.  Prayer is stitched in silver thread on black velvet.  There is a matching velvet tallit bag with the lions holding the 10 commandments.  The tallit with new atarah was used as a chuppah for the young man's wedding!  Go to the photo gallery page to see it.
